During this difficult time where a part of Libya is struggling with war due to the battling in Tripoli; the battling resulting from the lack of dialogue culture among the Libyan entities, there’s a bunch of elite Libyan youth from various cities and of different orientations and backgrounds gathered together throughout a whole week to become trainers in the art of debating and then to return to their homes so that they can take it upon themselves to publicize the dialogue culture and debating in Libya striving to spread violence renouncing principles and acceptance of difference and managing it via a contest of logic and argument rather than canons and bullets.
National Training for Debate Trainers
Dialogue and Debate Association
Is non-profitable, non-governmental youth-led Libyan organization, founded in March 2014. Through its vision, DDA seeks to solidify the culture of dialogue among the Libyan youth to create a core base for a life of co-existence and opinion acceptance to promote peace, by using debating, dialogue, public speaking and conflict management as tools to support democracy, and improve the youth in Libya in different aspects which contribute directly to their readability as well-trained young leaders who will act for an impact in their societies.
Dialogue on Reconciliation
A few years ago, no one would believe that a group of young people from Sirte, Misurata, Tripoli, Zawiya, Worshafana, Tawergha, Fazan, Kikla, Kabaw, Asbi’a, Mashashia,Bani Walid, and other more cities gathered in one place as one man, united for one cause, i.e., national reconciliation, for their roles and views regarding it, for the officials and the notables to be the listeners and to be the conceivers who brought forth the idea.
Board of Directors

Emad Shanab, Chairman of Board
Dialogue, listening to others, acceptance of difference, and the use of evidence and argument away from howling bullets and roaring tanks, those were the principles we were determined since the founding of DDA in 2014 to advocate and spread for the purpose of supporting peace in Libya. We took it upon ourselves to let the youth of this nation work on these projects and foundations in a process carried out by the youth to the youth to establish on a firm basis a group of
young elites who believe in peace and renounce violence and terrorism. Not long ago, no body believed that the art of debating which was unheard of in Libya at the time would enter every city and town and have competitions and tournaments arranged on its name that gather universities, clubs, and organizations from all over the country in one room so that “a contest of logic and argument” be their motto. In addition, no body believed that the youth from the areas inflicted with conflicts would come together in one place to speak about a mutual cause that is national reconciliation. We believe that diversity is power, and that debates play a role in readying society to become built on different views, political orientations, and tribal and racial backgrounds in a single place with no condition except for dialogue and discussion is the only language they speak and This alone can prepare the climate for promising political projects and for an open profound shower of thoughts about the projects not the backgrounds and motto. I would no be exaggerating if I said this glimpse of hope is what people need in a time where the future seems pitch black.comprehend. A last message to those who may want to learn, understand, and master the debating art, check the DDA editions which you can find on the website. It brings us joy that you keep in touch with us whether with your suggestions, questions, or opinions about the activities of DDA. Last but not least, we are proud that we work with a pure young spirit. although in spite of our differences as members of DDA, we work as one family that seeks to build and publicize a community for debating in Libya since the debating culture is a tool humans use to enter the world of leadership, confidence, and courage. On behalf of my colleagues, I wish you all a convivial welcome!
