Workshop: Legal Status of Civil Society Organizations in Libya
Dialogue & Debate Association is pleased to announce a free workshop on the “Legal Status of Civil Society Organizations” targeting youth members of civil society organizations and individuals interested in the legal aspect, aged between 16 and 24 years. The workshop aims to generate proposals for improving the current situation and understanding the proper framework for civil work. The workshop will be held in-person at the premises of Dialogue & Debate Association on Al-Khaffaf Ali Khalifa Al-Zaidi Street (Passports Street), Misratah City, Libya. The workshop will last for 4 hours on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This workshop provides a general analysis of the legal conditions of civil society organizations in Libya, delving into the details of the applicable laws within the Libyan state and identifying any shortcomings. Additionally, it covers international systems and laws governing the work of civil society organizations and the international principles for protecting civil work. Furthermore, this workshop helps improve participants’ legal awareness regarding important civil society issues. It also aims to develop ways to enhance the legal conditions by formulating recommendations, outputs, and proposals for the legal environment that civil society organizations in Libya should adhere to. This workshop is part of the efforts carried out by Dialogue & Debate Association to support civil work in Libya, based on the outcomes of a recent survey on the challenges of civil work and the discussions held in the dialogue salon organized in June 2023 (photos), which emphasized the importance of developing legal systems for civil society organizations.
